The Oak Tree

The Oak Tree

She stands in majestic glory;
Cares not for worldly fame.
This giant oak tree stands alone
Beside a coountry lane.

Every spring, when leaves are green,
Her boughs are filled with nests.
Through the storms of summer
She cradles them to her breast.

The amber lights of autumn
Reflect through tarnished leaves.
Squirrels store her many acorns
Against the winter's freeze.

She's magnificent in winter
Clothes in purest white
Dancing with the frosty wind
Sparkling in the sunlight.

No one knows who planted the seed
Or whence the oak tree came,
But she remains steadfast, alone
Beside a country lane.

About the Poet
I still have 4 grandsons and love to write. Although it hasn't been easy (nothing worth while ever is), on June 1 Floyd and I will celebrate our 57th wedding anniversary.
