Valley of Pines
Viewed Last 24 Hours: 1 time

And God said: Let the dry land appear and it was so. And God called the dry land Earth.
Genesis 1: 9, 10

I followed the path through a valley of pines,
A mere seed in God's creation.
So beautiful it took my breath away
And filled my soul with pure elation.

Tranquility reached deep within me,
Such serenity I had never known.
As I walked further down the path
I thought God's earth must be my own.

Regiments of pine marched over mountains
In all their regal array.
Needles and seeds they dropped on my path
And at times blocked the sun of the day.

Silence! Echoes of my footsteps
And music of the whispering wind
Were the only sounds I heard.
Still, the lure of something magic
Pulled me ever deeper to the wood.

I sensed before I saw it --
My path, at last, was done.
I walked into a meadow
Filled with brilliant beams of sun.

Water tumbled down a mountain
Splashed into a stream below,
Crystal clear and ever running
Through the meadow's golden glow.

Wildflowers bloomed profusely;
Carpeting the earth by the stream
With a blanket of heavenly color
Seen only in my dream.

Through the Valley of Pines I walked;
Just a speck in God's creation.
But the beauty of its' splendor
Filled my soul with revelation.

And God saw that it was good.
Genesis 1: 10

About the Poet
I still have 4 grandsons and love to write. Although it hasn't been easy (nothing worth while ever is), on June 1 Floyd and I will celebrate our 57th wedding anniversary.
