Promises of Spring

Promises of Spring

Returning robins, diligently searching
For twigs and bits of string to build a nest
Winter, at last, is laid to rest.

Melting snow cascading down mountains
Turning lazy brooks and streams
Into turbulent roaring rivers.

Tiny flowers pushing through the earth
Lifting faces to the sun
Basking in radiant rays.

Tranquil breezes blowing across the land
Sounds of geese filling the air
Newborn animals emerging from dens
To discover a big new world.

Streaks of light in a night sky
A rumble of thunder
Then the sweet clean smell of the rain.

The resurrection of Christ
His promise of rebirth, everlasting
Life and eternal Spring.

Gynith

About the Poet
I still have 4 grandsons and love to write. Although it hasn't been easy (nothing worth while ever is), on June 1 Floyd and I will celebrate our 57th wedding anniversary.
