Masterpiece of God

Masterpiece of God

Empty canvass
A stroke of the brush
Splashes of color
The Master Painter
Breathes into life
September.

Busy, beautiful month -September
Warm days - cool nights
Blue skies - white cotton clouds
Rainbow colored leaves
Cascade from trees like falling rain.

Harvest time
Fields of green
Now brown and ripe
Ready for harvest
Orange pumpkin patch
Last of vegetable garden
Fill the storehouse.

Time to:
      Rake leaves
      Clean outside remanents of summer
      Wash windows - clean carpets
      Rake leaves
      Drag out the winter clothes
      Store lawn furniture
      Rake leaves.

Wow!  Makes me tired
Dusk and time to rest on the patio
Wood smoke permeates the air
Birds nesting for the night
Squirrels still busy planting nuts in my flower pots.

I listen for the night music
Crickets chirp, frogs croak and far away
The lonely hoot of a barn owl puts me to sleep.
When I wake I am greeted by a star filled sky
and moonbeams dance upon the lawn.
Around the corner I spy "Jack Frost", lurking,
Waiting for his October.   Fooled him, I'm ready.

The canvass now overflows with God's Masterpiece.

I love September!

About the Poet
I still have 4 grandsons and love to write. Although it hasn't been easy (nothing worth while ever is), on June 1 Floyd and I will celebrate our 57th wedding anniversary.
