Let Us Celebrate
For over two thousand years we have reiterated and never tire of the Story of Christmas. On a star lit night long ago in a land away, far away, a baby boy was born in a lowly stable. His crib was a manger filled with straw and he was swaddled in anything found in a stable. Not a very royal beginning for the King of Kings. But regal was not in the plan of God. The shepherds came that night. Angels sang from on high and wise men, bearing gifts for the baby, followed a star to where the Christ child lay. All came to celebrate this miracle of the birth of Christ. So let us rejopice in the festivity - kill the fatted calf, blow the trumpet and beat the drums. For nothing is more wonderous than the ring of church bells on a snowy Christmas Eve, a lighted manger scene in the new-fallen snow and the twinkle of Christmas tree lights seen around the world. The soft, sweet music of "Silent Night" and the wonder of a child, eyes shining with love and joy, fill our soul with dreams and hope for tomorrow. We open our hearts and purse strings to loved ones. family, the needy and homeless. As God shared his Son, it is a time for us to share and give. But let us not forget the reason for this celebration - the birth of a baby in a lowly stable on that first Christmas and his promise of Eternal Life. So, let us celebrate!!!!! Gynith Roberts |

About the Poet
I still have 4 grandsons and love to write. Although it hasn't been easy (nothing worth while ever is), on June 1 Floyd and I will celebrate our 57th wedding anniversary.
