Summer Nights
Viewed Last 24 Hours: 1 time

Summer Nights

Darkness slowly wraps itself around the sun
And silently steals the sunlight.

Voices of the trees whisper and sigh.
The Angel of the Wind brushes their leaves
And the sighs become as melodic as a Heavenly
Chorus echoing from a sable sky.

Bubbly moonbeams cascade down
Playing 'catch me if you can'
With dancing shadows.

The cool dampness of the land
And the sweet scent of flowers
Hum with the sonance of night insects.

An orange moon smiles on the universe
While millions of living jewels twinkle
And jagged streaks of summer lightning lick
Their fork-ed tongues toward Heaven.

Far, far away the long, lonesome whistle
Of the last train of the day
Resounds through the stillness
As blackness spreads its velvet cloak
Enshrouding the earth.

On a summer night.

Gynith

About the Poet
I still have 4 grandsons and love to write. Although it hasn't been easy (nothing worth while ever is), on June 1 Floyd and I will celebrate our 57th wedding anniversary.
