Treasured Memories of Trinity

A treasured memory; a happy time
I hope you enjoy this Father's Day rhyme

Earliest memories include Trinity
So glad for Pastor Mike's ministry

It is my honor to bring in the light
The glow of the candles is warm and bright

The Children's Sermon teaches us to listen and learn
We help with the bread tin and each take a turn

Jesus loves me, this I know
For the Bible tells me so

We remember the sick, the sad, and the suffering
We pray for those who are recovering

At times I get distracted and have trouble sitting still
The firm look in your eyes can give me quite a chill

Pastor Mike preaches and beautiful hymns we sing
Thanks be to God for everything

You gave me a faith that is real and not a fantasy
When I have children of my own, they will be your legacy

Many times I've heard Mr. Roger Parks say
"Aren't you glad you came to church today"

My Trinity memories I owe to you and I'm so glad
To be in church with the world's greatest Dad

There's so much more that I could say
Here's wishing you the happiest Father's Day

I love you Dad!!

Author's note: This poem was written at the request of a lady in my church.  The children will share it with the congregation on Father's Day.  These little ones have grown up in the church and this poem represents a timeless memory for themselves and so many others who have also grown up in this church and are now parents, grandparents and great grandparents.  Though the pastors have come and gone, the crux of the poem is the same regardless of the generation.  Jesus loves me, this I know, for the Bible tells me so.

About the Poet
I grew up in rural North Carolina, married for 38 years to my best friend and soulmate, Allen, who retired almost 17 years ago from the Air Force after 24 years of service to our beloved America. We have a daughter, Ashley ( and son-in-law, Kris) and, a son, John, and, our two beautiful grand daughters, Amelia and Haley, and Isaac, our only grandson, all blessings from God. We have four cats; Mr. Peabody, Missy, aka Middle Kitty and Tabby, aka Little Kitty, and Gracie. I've seen a lot of hard times and God has always been here for me to see me through them. I am a vessel God can use to help others in need. If I could be described in one word, it would be that I am an encourager.
