First Day of Spring

oh, glad tidings this day did bring
how my heart and soul did sing
discovered that someone cared
a special witness was shared
one allowed a hug and a prayer
hands held together - yes, God was there
two women just trying to get by
not understanding why these days she will cry
last week with pills in trembling hand
to end her life was what she planned
yes, today she shared her story
God gets all the credit and glory
she didn't take the pills and fall upon the floor
the LORD knocked and she slowly opened the door
now she's going to church and accepting God's love
keep lifting her in prayer to the Master above
oh, glad tidings this day did bring
on March 21st - the first day of Spring

Revelation 3:20-21
Here I am! I stand at the door and knock, if anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me. To him who overcomes, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I overcame, and sat down with my Father on His throne.

About the Poet
I grew up in rural North Carolina, married for 38 years to my best friend and soulmate, Allen, who retired almost 17 years ago from the Air Force after 24 years of service to our beloved America. We have a daughter, Ashley ( and son-in-law, Kris) and, a son, John, and, our two beautiful grand daughters, Amelia and Haley, and Isaac, our only grandson, all blessings from God. We have four cats; Mr. Peabody, Missy, aka Middle Kitty and Tabby, aka Little Kitty, and Gracie. I've seen a lot of hard times and God has always been here for me to see me through them. I am a vessel God can use to help others in need. If I could be described in one word, it would be that I am an encourager.
