       THE GIFT

A little gift arrived
in the mail today.
The return address
told me it was from
my brother.
I took off the outer layer
of simple brown paper.
A little gift with a
silver bow and green wrapping.
The message on top read;
"DO NOT" open till Christmas.
I smiled and set the gift under
my little Christmas tree.
Some how it made me feel
like a little child again,
waiting for Santa to come
on Christmas morning.

"The precepts of the Lord are right,
giving joy to the heart." (Psalm 19:8)KJV

About the Poet
Born on October 24, 1939, I was one of seven children. I am now a mother of seven grown children, grandmother of 18, widow, and writer for the past 50 years mostly poetry. Day care provider of many years, now retired. Three poetry books published, but no longer in print, several little poem books self published. Published in local newspapers, several magazines and daily devotionals. My faith, family and writing poetry has brought me thus far.
