A Mother's Prayer

(Oh, God, protect them.)

I don't want them to get hurt.

"Zip your jacket, put on your hat."

(Oh God, it's cold and they are so small.)

I can't be with you every minute.

"Brush your teeth. Drink your milk."

(Oh God, keep them healthy.)

"Stop, look, listen, then cross the street."

(Oh God, lend them a guardian angel.)

I know others will watch out for you, too.

Children, did you know, I pray for you

each day in many different ways?

About the Poet
Born on October 24, 1939, I was one of seven children. I am now a mother of seven grown children, grandmother of 18, widow, and writer for the past 50 years mostly poetry. Day care provider of many years, now retired. Three poetry books published, but no longer in print, several little poem books self published. Published in local newspapers, several magazines and daily devotionals. My faith, family and writing poetry has brought me thus far.
