Lesson from the Roses

Lesson from the Rose

We can take

Life's lessons

From the roses.

Upon the rose bush

We find tiny new buds,

Delicate young blossoms

And some older roses

That bloomed a long time.

God has given

All of them

Finely patterned leaves

On stems, full of thorns.

Life is like the rose bush,

With tiny new babies born,

Delicate young people

And some older adults

Living life a long time.

God has given

All of them

Finely patterned lives

Sometimes...

Full of thorns,

Other times

Full of roses.

"Blessed is that man that maketh the Lord his trust."(Psalm 40:4)

About the Poet
Born on October 24, 1939, I was one of seven children. I am now a mother of seven grown children, grandmother of 18, widow, and writer for the past 50 years mostly poetry. Day care provider of many years, now retired. Three poetry books published, but no longer in print, several little poem books self published. Published in local newspapers, several magazines and daily devotionals. My faith, family and writing poetry has brought me thus far.
