My Mother

MY MOTHER

I thank You Lord

For my sweet mother

You knew I didn’t need another

You know the secrets that we share

And just the kind of special care

That she would give to me

                                                                   To teach me love, humility,

                                                             Compassion,courage,generosity

Joy and passion and liberty,

Her gifts to me were always there

Her sacrifice led me to know

The path to take

To help me grow

To find the truth

To set me free

And pray the truth for all will be

The guiding light

That leads to thee

And part of me she’ll always be.

                                 Lyn Nowland 2003

I wrote this poem after my mother died aged 87. Being a mother is a great

privilege (and a miracle in my case) so I celebrate mothers’day and especially the memory of my mother.

About the Poet
I live in Queensland Australia with my husband son and daughter. I love the Lord and it is my passion to express my faith in whatever way He inspires me to. At the moment it's poetry.
