He Came

HE CAME
He came, a babe in a manger,
A coming so humble a stranger,
To an innkeeper designed of kindness,
In God’s very own likeness.

He came that wise men may follow,
A star in the night,  then to bend low,
To pay homage to such a king,
And to Herod only anger bring.

He came, the one anointed,
A dove appeared and pointed,
At his baptism in River Jordan,
His task revealed, not stored in.

So when then at Calvary he bled,
And the tears his mother shed,
Not in vain did he die,
For our salvation,  he did buy.
