A Nativity Poem

A Nativity Poem

It occurred on a lonely night

In the village of Bethlehem

Illumined by Heaven's Light

Christ was born: our Savior, I AM

His beginnings? An humble birth,

While the Heavens looked down from above

But an infant Who gave men worth,

Had left Heaven on a mission of Love!

A poor birth, to poor folks, was His,

When He entered this world of sod,

But He Who Was, and will be, and Is

Heard the angels cry, "Glory to God"!

And to Him, our Savior, come down,

Who was serenaded to sleep,

That Night in a poor little town,

Had come to rescue His 'sheep'!

About the Poet
I am 64, a born-again Christian, and didn't write until 1974. My mother inspired me to write poetry, from an early age since she developed a deep love for poetry in my life. However it took years before I tried to write. My favorite subject to write about is my Savior, Jesus Christ, and religious subjects. I reside in Cleveland, Ohio.
