September Melody

The leaves of red and yellow proclaim September's Song,

The crisp, clean air that our God gives can carry me along,

It was in one September that my mom and dad were wed,

A beautiful September, for my mom and dad, now dead,

I miss them both but still enjoy the season's quiet call,

God speaks to me through Autumn's Song, this start of another Fall,

The hills of West Virginia, I remember as a child,

The multi-colored mountains, nearly pristine, yes, and mild,

Praise God for each September that I have known since birth,

Christ's Beauty is reflected in this season of the earth,

But most of all, the start of Fall, so lovely and so new,

Can draw me near, (this season, dear) that speaks, Oh God, of You!

About the Poet
I am 64, a born-again Christian, and didn't write until 1974. My mother inspired me to write poetry, from an early age since she developed a deep love for poetry in my life. However it took years before I tried to write. My favorite subject to write about is my Savior, Jesus Christ, and religious subjects. I reside in Cleveland, Ohio.
