Resilient Spirit

God understands the contrite heart
guilt-ridden and seemingly torn apart

sinking deeper in utter despair
feeling no one on Earth will care

to live or die; what difference will it make
believe me, there is so very much at stake

by God, your spirit is highly prized
He doesn't care... you may have surmised

yes, he lives in a high and holy place
He also loves every member of the human race

you may not be fully aware
God Almighty certainly does care

even when you can't feel it
God gave you a resilient spirit

you didn't sink this low overnight
there is power within; the devil you must fight

you do posess the ability
and your spirit has the capability

to bounce back into it's original form
and once again feel light and warm

though He lives on high, He lives with you
I say these things because they're true

God will revive the spirit of the lowly
sometimes this happens quite slowly

don't give up and don't give in
God has a purpose for you; he wants you to win

yes, every day it's a battle to survive
God and I want you to stay alive

yours is such a precious life
I'll keep you in my prayers during your strife

your life certainly does matter
to live or die; choose the first, not the latter

Isaiah 57:15-16
For this is what the high and lofty one says - he who lives forever, whose name is holy:
I live in a high and holy place, but also with him who is contrite and lowly in spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly and to revive the heart of the contrite. I will not accuse forever, nor will I always be angry, for then the spirit of the man would grow faint before me - the breath of man that I have created.

Isaiah 58:9
then you will call, and the LORD will answer; you will cry for help, and He will say "Here am I"

About the Poet
I grew up in rural North Carolina, married for 38 years to my best friend and soulmate, Allen, who retired almost 17 years ago from the Air Force after 24 years of service to our beloved America. We have a daughter, Ashley ( and son-in-law, Kris) and, a son, John, and, our two beautiful grand daughters, Amelia and Haley, and Isaac, our only grandson, all blessings from God. We have four cats; Mr. Peabody, Missy, aka Middle Kitty and Tabby, aka Little Kitty, and Gracie. I've seen a lot of hard times and God has always been here for me to see me through them. I am a vessel God can use to help others in need. If I could be described in one word, it would be that I am an encourager.
