The Color of Love

The Color of Love

Canvas stretched across the frame
ready to be filled with the color of love.
Thus describes the life of a child.

The essence of love
soft, warm and pink.
As yet, no hint of the hues of darkness.
Stroked ever so gently,
lovingly caressed,
bathed in golden splendor.
Splashes of laughter
embrace the picture.
The color of joy comes to life.

Time goes by…
happiness fades.
Tears fall and the colors begin to run.
Canvas takes on a sad appearance.

The Master Artist
tenderly holds a life in His hand;
thoughts of love and colors anew.
Faith, hope, and love
are the hues He’ll use.
Fresh, bright colors
add light and warmth
to life so cold and hidden in shadows.

Now life filled with beauty once more.
The light of God’s love
warm and pure
beckons one closer
to gaze upon the color of love.

About the Poet
I grew up in rural North Carolina, married for 38 years to my best friend and soulmate, Allen, who retired almost 17 years ago from the Air Force after 24 years of service to our beloved America. We have a daughter, Ashley ( and son-in-law, Kris) and, a son, John, and, our two beautiful grand daughters, Amelia and Haley, and Isaac, our only grandson, all blessings from God. We have four cats; Mr. Peabody, Missy, aka Middle Kitty and Tabby, aka Little Kitty, and Gracie. I've seen a lot of hard times and God has always been here for me to see me through them. I am a vessel God can use to help others in need. If I could be described in one word, it would be that I am an encourager.
