The 2,000th Teddy Bear

written on April 4, 2013
by Nan Forehand

He's got the cutest little smile on his face

No other teddy bear can take his place

He's the perfect bear for the job in more ways than one
He looks as sweet as a honey bun

His fur is soft, fluffy and white
His eyes are dark and his twinkles are bright
I could name him BooBoo, Binky or Farley
He tells me his name is Charlie

Charlie is no ordinary teddy bear
"He's the 2,000th," I declare!
With him, numbers are significant
He has a relationship with The Omnipotent

Charlie has a special way with numbers
In addition, Charlie never slumbers
His little red nose is awfully sweet
There is a message on the bottom of one of his feet

On his foot is a heart stitched in red
There is more to this story that must be said
Within the heart are the numbers 143
These numbers are important to Charlie and me

They mean I love you
Yes, this is entirely true
1=(I), 4=(love), 3=(you)
143=I love you

"I love you" is the message God wants you to know
He is always with you and He loves you so.
Charlie is the 2,000th bear of my ministry
And now you know Charlie's history.

The first delivery of Nan's Goodwill Bears to Iredell Memorial Hospital was on July 22nd, 2011.

About the Poet
I grew up in rural North Carolina, married for 38 years to my best friend and soulmate, Allen, who retired almost 17 years ago from the Air Force after 24 years of service to our beloved America. We have a daughter, Ashley ( and son-in-law, Kris) and, a son, John, and, our two beautiful grand daughters, Amelia and Haley, and Isaac, our only grandson, all blessings from God. We have four cats; Mr. Peabody, Missy, aka Middle Kitty and Tabby, aka Little Kitty, and Gracie. I've seen a lot of hard times and God has always been here for me to see me through them. I am a vessel God can use to help others in need. If I could be described in one word, it would be that I am an encourager.
