Winter

Summer's sizzling steamy heat,
Seems O' so far away,
When winter's frozen snow squeaks soft,
beneath your bundled feet.

Cabin fever grips your soul,
as days are short and sun so cold,
her golden rays are lost for the earth
has turned her head,
leaving us to bask with the frozen dead.

White, white, the stillnes of the night,
as secret silent snow flakes flutter in their flight.
Drifting, drifting ,with winter's chilling wind
wondrous whiteness willingly yielded her to win.

Blizzard, blindness, blocks familiar ways,
of the wondering wayfarer's weary feet.
with head half hidden beneath his coat,
his face and beard a frosted mask,
as he struggles on to complete his task.

For in this winterery wonderous white,
there is a season all blessed and bright.
That brings the ritual all so dear,
to seek the tree,
for the parlor to cheer.

The emerald branches will fill the room,
with warmth and smells of a bridegroom.
and for the moment the journey so fierce,
will be a pleasure of Christmas chorused.

So with winter's wind and blinding snow,
it off to the forest we must go,
to seek the tree for the season's best,
A Merry Christmas and all the rest.
