Still Listening

Still Listening Almost at the pinnacle, a few more rungs to go not thinking that at any time, He could require my soul. I kept busy rushing on ‘till it came tumbling down then I listened, there I listened, to a faint rustling sound. To ’self’ I said … “You stand back up, don’t leave yourself down here.” I stood back up, dusted myself off, then heard the Voice I feared. The voice I heard was not my own, no self could say as much: “Look up, look up, reach out for Me, My Hand is here to touch”. Could it be possible that God was talking now to me? Can He see me, truly see me, can care that much really? Then I tested the waters, then untried; fumbling in fear I said “Where are You Lord?” “I’m suffocating down here.” “I’m devastated, lost it all, I’m drowning in my grief I’m talking to myself in sounds, but finding no relief I’m trying to rebuild again, what once was in my hand…” Then I listened, really listened, now I repeat verbatim: “What is it worth to gain the world, and surely lose your soul? Can you count monetarily, what I give free to hold? Can you equate your riches with one thing that you have done? Come, take My Hand, I’ll show you, the peace of My Dear Son.” That was many years ago, today, like then, He’s true. Not one moment is regretted, for all things, in Christ, are new. I don’t worry ‘bout tomorrow, ‘cause tomorrow holds no fear but to Jesus Christ, God’s Sacrifice, still listening, I am here. In joyful gratitude and love for my Savior. |

About the Poet
I feel truly blessed to have been a wife, mother, grandmother and servant of God through salvation in Jesus Christ my Lord. I pray that my offering to Him through this seemingly innocuous form of communication called poetry will always lift His Name above all other names. May God bless each of us in this pursuit.
