Sand

Sand

Sand has such a sad sound,

Associated with sleep and seashells,

And time, sifting into Sunday services,

Songs of Solomon, and reminiscence

Of slow moving streams, shadows on the shore

And scents of sugar cakes and cinnamon,

Or the saddest of all, a metaphor.

Sin that seeps into the satisfied,

That slides into sharp looks, searching

Through sand castles, strolls through the stores

Stretching for miles in suburban malls.

Surely salvation will cease the storms,

Rescue us from the sand, the sad sand,

Signaling the soul to Christ.
