Hideaway

In the distance, motorcars
thunder from black-top streets
racing to the next stop.

But here, turtles bathe in the ebb of water
and doves sit safely in elm trees,
and I am quiet, not a ripple of thought -

only God in a vast orchestra of earth
spilling into a hidden cove.
