Visitation

Visitation

Dreams settled upon
twilight's sleep,
through shadowy canyons
and ancient moors.
Herons circled to awakened shores,
red seas parted in splendor.
Gazelle like,
you appeared,
startling the soul
with tangerines and pomegranates,
trumpets and brilliant songbirds
singing glory be to God
in the highest.
Your gentle touch
sent rivers of light and love
through unsuspecting fibers of being,
heretofore living in shadows and caves.
You chastised the musings
Of bygone pleasures,
breaking the haughty look
On the rocks of pure glimpses
Of holiness.
Only memories remain,
tiny cathedral chimes
dove like in sound,
chasing away the cobwebs of earth
From the soul.
