Reflections on Easter Sunday

Easter Sunday

Today is the day we remember
The resurrection of Christ
It seems so far away
Like some misty smoke trailing
Into the clouds of a distant horizon

This miracle of life, defeating death
Confounding logic, defying all reason
Deeply drawing waters of faith
From the murky darkness of the unknown

All that is seen becomes as fragile glass
Falling from a great height
Shattering to a trillion pieces
On the smooth surface of the known

Somewhere behind the veil of silence
Rests the ocean of wisdom
Vast in the clarity of a risen Lord

I know

But how I know is a mystery
A small candle of peace
Lighting the moonless night
On a path rising to the gates of purity
