The Golden Lark

The Golden Lark

I want to run across the sky

Like the sun tossing light at the earth,

Tremble with the power of flight

And see the ocean within His birth.

I want to feel His Holy word

Create music from the clay,

And rise within the tidal surge

Love, hope, and peace each day.

Hosanna calls from salty winds

Circles high above the clouds,

Beaconing from burrowed sins

Imprisoned beneath the shrouds.

I want to cast away granite feet

Listen with an angel’s heart,

Rise from the icy sheets

And sing with a golden lark.
