My Wish

Dying to self, and living for Jesus,

No longer seeking this world's things, to own!

This, and this only, has power to free us,

For even our lives here are merely on loan!

Dying to self is a difficult measure!

When caught in the clutches of worldly desire!

But think of our Savior, deriving much pleasure,

When we look to Him, not to what we acquire!

Dying to self, and being contented,

Not in mere worldly, but Heavenly Things!

I pray, Lord, You'll give me a true heart, repented!

To seek the true Riches that only Christ brings!

About the Poet
I am 64, a born-again Christian, and didn't write until 1974. My mother inspired me to write poetry, from an early age since she developed a deep love for poetry in my life. However it took years before I tried to write. My favorite subject to write about is my Savior, Jesus Christ, and religious subjects. I reside in Cleveland, Ohio.
