Journey Postponed

Say farewell slowly
like April crawls
into summer,
or molasses pours
from a bottle,
speak yet of roses,
and sunsets, wearing
your old gold baubles
that jingle
to a halted gait.
Sport the bright red
lipstick, painted on
in careless strokes
to accentuate a smile
that says,"I'm not ready yet."
