Song of Water Deep

SONG OF WATER DEEP

Wavelets,
children with endless energy
tumbling ashore
calling among themselves,
and tiny water birds,
will-o-wisps with black hoods,
tooth-pick-quick legs,
tossed in swirls of atmosphere,

clouds moving massively,
ships approaching berth,
glaciers, slow, but grinding mountains,
following laws all their own,

pilot fate or pilot salvation,
sailing billows of living blood,
past shoals of reaping what is sown,
anchoring known to already known,
finding good at last
in one already good.
