Harpist

She sat alone
in halls of stone,
harp cradling,

Blue gowned,
gold trimmed round,
gently falling.

Blond hair long
in slanted sun
through gothic window
glistening,

Head bowing,
Finger dancing,
plucking strings,

flinging minstral melodies
aloft
in misty music rings.....

And rising soft
from her white throat
a golden song
a mournful note,

a Celtic lay
of ancient love's
undoings.....
