To God

As tide lifts
the heaving sea,
so love for you
rises in me.

As mist obscures
the nearest tree,
and frost bejewels
berry and leaf,
you veil my eyes
to barely see
all I can stand
of mystery.

By shaft of sunlight
as you pass,
down through mist,
exciting the grass,

simply by beauty,
you devastate me,
parceled by love,
sparingly.
