WINTER'S HEART


The ground is dark and frozen, turned by sharpened plow.
Ribbon patterned furrows, black and sleeping now.

Frozen deep and solid, silence in the seed.
Sleeping grains in limbo, empty of a need.

I ponder of the vision, beyond my window pane,
Of frozen earth in winter's sleep, beneath ice and frozen rain.

It seems so like MY season....a heart in darkened ground,
Barren, cold and hardened, where winter does abound.

A sharpened plow touched my life to scar this lovely land,
The rhythm of my heartbeat, slowed by unseen hand.

But seasons only last a while, fulfilling God's design,
Set in the beginning, until the end of time.

Frozen ground has purpose, to rest and to restore,
When God's own touch awakens life within our hearts once more.
