When I Look to the Cross

When I Look to the Cross

When I look to the Cross,
raised high upon Calvary's Hill
I see Jesus' agony and pain
of completing His Father's will.

I see shoulders slumped over,
a thorn-crowned head hanging
I see where man left his mark
and where sin left its branding.

When I look to the Cross,
where the sacrificial blood flowed
I see the nails in hands and feet
and the love for me He showed.

I see my own sinful nature,
and how Jesus' death set me free
I see the shame of my disgrace
and it takes me to my knees.

When I look to the Cross,
raised high upon Calvary's Hill
I see the need to let go of self
and do my Father's will . . .

John 6:38

"For I came down from heaven, not to do mine
own will, but the will of him that sent me."
