On a Starlit Night Long Ago

On a starlit night long ago,
In a stable in Bethlehem.
Jesus our Savior was born.
He came from above
With a message of love
Bringing peace here on earth
Among men.

On a field where sheep grazed
Shepherds became afraid
When an angel appeared before them.
Without much ado
He told them the news
That a Savior was born in Bethlehem.

On a manger He lay
On a bed full of hay,
The Messiah of all mankind.
Choirs of angels sang songs of praise
To this new-born babe,
Our precious Savior divine.

Wise men came from afar
Following the star
That led them to where Jesus lay.
Mary and Joseph looked on
At God’s precious son
On a starlit night long ago.
