Unworthy Vessel

Unworthy Vessel

So unworthy a vessel...
An unworthy vessel am I;
Not fit for my Master to use yet,
No self-worth on which to rely.

Look there, there's a crack of resentment,
See here, here's a chip of self-pride;
With dents of my own self-reliance,
And pure selfishness caked inside.

But if I will yield to the Potter
To shape and re-mold as He will,
He'll re-do this unworthy vessel
Until it exhibits His skill.

And though I'm an unworthy vessel
With no value of which to boast,
I know that my wishing to please Him
Still delights and pleases Him most.

So I'll let Him work till He's ready
To pour in me all I can hold;
For when I come out of His furnace,
This vessel shall be purest gold.

"...when He hath tried me,
I shall come forth as gold."

(Job 23:10b, KJV)

About the Poet
IN MEMORIAM I'm just a servant of the Lord that wants to magnify Him through poetry, and to cause others to focus on Him.
