The Forever Clock...
Viewed Last 24 Hours: 1 time

The Forever Clock

The urgent days unfold...I sense their haste
When I was young...why, time would never end
She pandered to my will at every turn
I counted her a pal...a faithful friend

A schism...a shift of sorts has taken place
In part...I've learned my will is not my own
And Time? ...relentless...moves with measured tread
How long...I wonder...until time is gone?

Time's Maker...in the kindly way He does
Sensing as it were, my vague concern
Showed me Eternity's strange forever clock
Showed me the power that makes each pinion turn

The eons and the ages come and go
And time-bound transient mortals have their place
The drive...the fuel that powers Eternity's clock
Is purest love and all-surpassing grace

Now here's a thing that caused my heart to leap
But I must haste for time is marching on
The clock face of Eternity is blank
All minutes...hands...and numerals...are gone!

About the Poet
My hope is that through the poems I write God will be glorified. I am reliant on the Holy Spirit for anything meaningful to say. I am 71 years of age, married with three of a family...a retired Policeman living in Aberdeen, Scotland. I play the Classical Guitar about grade4/5 level...and also paint after a fashion...although Van Gogh's in no danger!! I learned of this site from a Christian friend,Laurie Jenkins. I do hope that God blesses you through my poetry. Every Blessing in Christ, Raymond
