Tinted Troupers...

Tinted Troupers

A royal carpet spread beneath my feet
What king was ever feted in this way?
Rich reds and russet browns from Autumn's loom
Berate my blindness to such majesty

Just where the beech hedge meets the wicket-gate
A dance begins...with prompting from the breeze
a rising swirl of leafy levity
Coloured...complex...yet performed with ease

Tinted troupers final arabesque
The boisterous breeze abates and down they fall
The grace...the daring...poise...alas has gone
Why...they're only coloured leaves...after all

But for a while I glimpsed a beauty there
Oft missed by dopey dullards such as me
God's masterworks are everywhere about
If only I will lift my eyes to see

About the Poet
My hope is that through the poems I write God will be glorified. I am reliant on the Holy Spirit for anything meaningful to say. I am 71 years of age, married with three of a family...a retired Policeman living in Aberdeen, Scotland. I play the Classical Guitar about grade4/5 level...and also paint after a fashion...although Van Gogh's in no danger!! I learned of this site from a Christian friend,Laurie Jenkins. I do hope that God blesses you through my poetry. Every Blessing in Christ, Raymond
