EIGHTY

April 19

Today I am eighty.

The sun came up, birds sang, flowers bloomed and the garden grew.

Mother nature didn't seem to have time to care about my age.

I have mixed emotions about being eighty.

I feel sad that the years went by so fast and I have been unable to

fulfil all my dreams and fantasies.  At the same time, I am thankful

to have been blessed with two children and four grandsons who have

filled my life with love, laughter and kept me young in spite of my years.

And, now, a great grandson to bring joy and happiness into my soul.

Just as a carousel goes up and down, 'round and 'round, so has been

my life.  But don't stop this merry-go-round yet.  I'm not ready to get

off.  Eighty is just a number and perhaps the best years are still

to come.

About the Poet
I still have 4 grandsons and love to write. Although it hasn't been easy (nothing worth while ever is), on June 1 Floyd and I will celebrate our 57th wedding anniversary.
