Window of Light

Window of Light

There's a story oft' told
Of a man who lived
In a house at the end of the road.
A light in the window
Gleamed day and night --
A guide for the lost
In search of their goal.

The story so goes:
As a very young man
He traveled the world twofold,
In pursuit of life and himself.
He found in each house
With a window of light,
A tiny piece of his gold.

The light glowed with
Love, kind words, peace
And rest for the night.
Each new morn
Sent him on his way
With full pockets of knowledge
And strength for the day.

The pieces of gold
Were called wisdom,
And he stored each bit in his soul.
When he returned from his mission
To the house at the end of the road,
He lit a lamp in HIS window
To share this rainbow of gold.

About the Poet
I still have 4 grandsons and love to write. Although it hasn't been easy (nothing worth while ever is), on June 1 Floyd and I will celebrate our 57th wedding anniversary.
