Reed Mats
Viewed Last 24 Hours: 1 time

The Reed Mat

riverside reeds
stately princesses..
fawning fish lip their feet..
they know the reason why the heron frowns
they do not ask;
they do not tell them
how ratchety their stance is
viewed from the East.

Reedy second cousins they
to that princess who adapted
a cradle of cane
and grew a Messiah
who threw a cane
to part the waters...

River side gossip churners are they
to the many feathers
that sky the sky..
who whisper to the leathers
that hoofpuzzle a loopgirdle
in the flowing waters
encompassing all angles of a compass
within the circle of a slurp..

erect and swaying they whine a sweet melody
sans time sans audience sans sleep..

and now supine they wiggle their dry lengths
entangling their dreams
to mat my floor...
