Red Rose and White
Viewed Last 24 Hours: 1 time

By Charles Van Gorkom
Other Poems by Charles Van Gorkom

Trees that died
where they stood
and dried
I find to fall and cut
and split

My creaking stove
as winter calls
devours it

Turns ax-hewn blocks
to glowing roses
fire-bricked and grated
gardens with golden dancers
bowers thought
heart discloses
on its radiant road to ashes

Outside my frosted windows
cold wind blows
and snows
near and far upon the hills
uncaught by branches
piles drifting petals
where it falls
