All Things New
Viewed Last 24 Hours: 1 time

                   All Things New

Newness now seems same old same old

With no welcome change in sight

Since Mugabe’s bill of goods sold

  Zimbabwe can scarce run right

Whitewash covered up with whitewash

Cannot cleanse his scorched earth hand

Blackened by rank racist backlash

  Birthing policies ill-planned

Crippled companies fear closure

  Hard-earned assets being stripped

Regime still eludes exposure

  Cronies mostly stay tight-lipped

Agriculture beckons starkly

  Warns investors to beware

Forced to peer through glasses darkly

  Wondering what’s really there

Shifting goalposts cause confusion

  Where’s Zim’s final referee

Games in games spawn disillusion

  Highlighting hypocrisy

Threats tied tight to non-compliance

New years or five years from now

Still sow seeds that sprout defiance

If justice is forced to bow

Calendars may mark time’s changes

  But their cycles can’t create

Or control tyrants’ rampages

Time and tide may have to wait

Till eternal words will echo

And mankind will know they’re true

Promised He who holds tomorrow

Behold I make all things new

About the Poet
Born in Anacortes WA USA on 11/24/1944. Raised mostly in Nyasaland(now Malawi) by missionary parents. Married to Carol, an Australian, who is the mother of our four children. After Seattle Pacific University and graduate studies at Princeton Theological Seminary and marriage, spent over two decades in missionary work mostly in Zimbabwe. Currently in Anacortes, but for 12 years did a regular program on www.swradioafrica.com where I sometimes shared poetry which I have been writing, off and on, since 1962. God's faithfulness is from everlasting to everlasting.
