Mother's Day Never Ends

Mother's Day Never Ends

How can fathers fully fathom

  Deepest depths of mother love

Only God in all His wisdom

  Love's Great Architect above

Understands that inner bonding

  Through nine months preceding birth

Can't be severed by swift cutting

  Unseen cords criss-cross vast earth

Linking children with their mother

  Over miles that intervene

Near or far from one another

  Nothing really comes between

Mother's arms life's softest cradle

  Warming milk with mirrored smile

Long lost mem'ries oft enable

  Feelings to suffuse awhile

Nothing alters her affection

Though some deem her offspring strange

She allows for imperfection

When life's times and seasons change

Sacrifice is never too great

Work for her has no known end

Children's slave and husband's helpmate

  Others too on her depend

Mother's day is never ending

Always one more thing to do

Clothes or sometimes hearts need mending

Making things as good as new

Loving deeds are all recorded

Children rise to call you blessed

By God's grace you'll be rewarded

  Darling you're the very best

About the Poet
Born in Anacortes WA USA on 11/24/1944. Raised mostly in Nyasaland(now Malawi) by missionary parents. Married to Carol, an Australian, who is the mother of our four children. After Seattle Pacific University and graduate studies at Princeton Theological Seminary and marriage, spent over two decades in missionary work mostly in Zimbabwe. Currently in Anacortes, but for 12 years did a regular program on www.swradioafrica.com where I sometimes shared poetry which I have been writing, off and on, since 1962. God's faithfulness is from everlasting to everlasting.
