Turmoil and Peace

Turmoil and Peace

The daily paper and the evening news
Each portray turmoil and gloom
It seems greed and power dominate
The minds of many, it does consume

It appears that, the meaning of peace
To many is, - having their own way
God's word and the golden rule
Has no place in their array

Violence and bloodshed in our streets
No longer is the "small town" exempt
Demonstrations and protest, all around
True freedom is, the victim of contempt
 - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
I see a rocky cliff on a mountain side
Harsh winds assault it's rugged face
A nest is anchored in a lone bush
A mother bird, claims this space

Calm and peaceful, she sits secure
Instinct tells her not to fear
He who created the stone and wind
Will protect her when, troubles appear

At times in life, when trials rage
Be it howling winds, or a stormy sea
When turbulence is too great to bear
He's always there, to set us free

Here is a contrast of turmoil and peace
God grant that it will help us find
Peace amid the howling storm
And restore us to, "the ties that bind"

About the Poet
I live in N.C., and have been writing poetry for several years. Writing is the greatest "outlet" I have ever experienced to release my inner emotions, and express my stance on spiritual issues. Most compositions, are derived from observing "down-to-earth" events that occur around us. Many offer a personal "mini-story" with a metaphor of spiritual implications that portray God as the ultimate solution to life's problems. My goal is that any and all compositions will present Christ and His sacrifice at Calvary as the solution to problems encountered along our journey.
