Good Things
Sunday, July 13, 2014GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD:
10 Let the righteous rejoice in the Lord and take refuge in Him; let all the upright in heart praise Him! - Psalm 64:10(New International Version).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD:
35 Then Jesus declared, I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty. - John 6:35(New International Version).
A QUOTE:
The next time we are tempted to take credit for the blessings we enjoy, lets pause and remember that it is the Lord who brings blessing. - Albert Lee -
THOUGHTS TO REMEMBER:
A smile is a wrinkle that should not be removed. - From Reminisce Magazine - In His will is our peace. - Dante -
Those with peace of mind never give others a piece of their mind. - From Reminisce Magazine -
NOTES:
Today has been a sunny hot day with a high temperature of 96 degrees. I attended Worship Services this morning. We had the usual inspiring service with choruses, hymns and spiritual songs and an inspirational sermon by Pastor JT on Forgiveness. I had lunch at home. I had a nap with Tony. Emmy had joined us when I awakened. I put treats outside for the cats at around 6:15 p.m. but it is much to warm to sit out at all. The hot weather is hard on everyone but especially we older people. I still have to put the garbage out on the street for pick up in the morning after I finish the Good Things. Thanks for reading the Good Things and thanks for your comments orally or by mail. I must do them as much as possible because I have people who wait for them at night and others who read them the first thing in the morning.
The cats are fine. Leo is on the desk and Smokey is on a tv tray. Emmy, Rascal and Tony are just outside the front door. I have seen all of them this evening.
Have a nice Monday. Everett

Saturday, July 12, 2014GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD:
18 Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth. - 1 John 3:18(New International Version).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD:
(The Apostle Paul wrote) 9 But He (the Lord) said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' - 2 Corinthians 12:9(New International Version).
A QUOTE:
When we truly know Christ, we cannot keep the good news about Him to ourselves. - David McCasland -
THOUGHTS TO REMEMBER:
A hug from someone or a smile from a friend are such simple ways to experience the purest of everyday joys. - From Every Good Thing -
Kind words might be brief, but their echoes can continue endlessly. - From Reminisce Magazine -
The hand of the Father is behind all good things. - From Our Daily Bread -
THOUGHTS ABOUT SUNDAY:
Tomorrow is Sunday, a day that I, along with many other people observe as the Sabbath. In the Bible in the Book of Genesis, we read that God created everything in six days and rested from His work on the seventh day. Under the old Mosaic Law the Sabbath was observed on a Saturday. When Jesus of Nazareth was crucified, He arose from the dead on the third day, which was the first day of the week or Sunday. Since that time many Christians have observed Sunday as the Sabbath and some call it The Lord's Day. One of the ten commandments is: Remember the Sabbath Day by keeping it holy. (Exodus, Chapter 20, Verse 8, New International Version).
NOTES:
Today has been mostly sunny with a high temperature of 95 degrees. Kathy came to clean my house, then she helped Darren with taking care of the lawn. I had lunch by myself at Taco Bob's since Charley had a church meeting. He came in with some other people for lunch just as I was leaving. I went to the post office and then by Memory Gardens cemetery before I came home. I took a nap this afternoon with Smokey. At around 5:30 p.m. I went to Domino's Pizza to pick up a pizza for tonight and tomorrow. I put the treats outside for the cats at around 6:15 p.m. I watched the Lawrence Welk show taped in 1975 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. I missed doing the Good Things last night as my back was hurting a little and I just didn't feel up to doing them. That may be the trend from now on that I might miss a night now and then since I am getting older and more feeble as time goes by. Thanks for your emails and thanks for reading the Good Things.
The cats are fine. Rascal is on a desk near me at present. I have seen all of them this evening.
I hope everyone has a Wonderful Sunday. Everett.

GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD:
13 Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures through all generations. The Lord is faithful to all His promises and loving toward all He has made. - Psalm 145:13(New International Version).

Spread the gospel; it's contagious! - From Our Daily Bread -
NOTES:
Today has been mostly cloudy with a good soaking rain with lightning and thunder beginning around 5:00 p.m. and lasting for two to three hours. I received one and seven tenths inches of rain at my house. High temperature today was 91 degrees before the rains came. I had lunch with Charley and Bill. I went to the post office. I took my nap this afternoon with Smokey. I couldn't put treats outside this evening due to the rain so I gave them their treats in the house. As always, thanks for reading the Good Things and thanks for you notes. Let me know if you would like to be dropped from the Good Things.
The cats are fine. Itty Bitty is on the back of my computer chair. Lucy is lying on a lamp table. Smokey is lying on a tv tray. Rascal has been around in the past few minutes but has gone to check out something somewhere else at present. I continue to feed Lucy's twin but she is sure not a bit tame at present. I can't get close to her. I have seen all of my babies this evening.
Have a nice Friday. Everett

Today has been partly cloudy with a high temperature of 89 degrees. We had rain last evening and again early this morning. I had lunch today with Charley, my daughter Treva, Bill and his wife Vi. Treva and her dog, Libby, came Monday afternoon and went home this afternoon. We had a good time visiting and doing other things. Today we went to the post office and Walmart before she left for home. I have heard from her and she made it home safe and sound this evening. Thanks for reading the Good Things.
The cats are fine. None are with me at present but I have see all of them this evening.
Have a nice Thursday. Everett

GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD:

In a head filled with prejudices, there's no room for a good idea. - From Reminisce Magazine -
Praying for others is a privilege - and a responsibility. - From Our Daily Bread -
NOTES:
Today has been partly cloudy with a high temperature of 87 degrees. Kathy cleaned my house while I had lunch with Charley and Bill. I went to the post office, then to the Petsense store and then to Memory Gardens Cemetery before I came home. As I lay down for my nap, Rascal joined me until I went to sleep but he had moved on when I awakened. At around 5:30 p.m. I went to Dominoe's Pizza to pick up a pizza for tonight and tomorrow. I put treats outside for the cats at around 6:05 p.m. My back was hurting a little last night so I didn't do the Good Things. I will keep doing them when I feel like it and thanks to each of you for hanging in here with me and reading them. Thanks also for your emails.
The cats are fine. None are with me at present but I have seen all of them this evening. Lucy's twin keeps coming back in the evening for dry food and eats all I put out for it (I don't know if it is male or female). It is a beautiful cat. There is a black spot in the middle of her white chest.
Have a Wonderful Sunday. Everett
