Good Things
Saturday, July 12, 2014GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD:
18 Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth. - 1 John 3:18(New International Version).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD:
(The Apostle Paul wrote) 9 But He (the Lord) said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' - 2 Corinthians 12:9(New International Version).
A QUOTE:
When we truly know Christ, we cannot keep the good news about Him to ourselves. - David McCasland -
THOUGHTS TO REMEMBER:
A hug from someone or a smile from a friend are such simple ways to experience the purest of everyday joys. - From Every Good Thing -
Kind words might be brief, but their echoes can continue endlessly. - From Reminisce Magazine -
The hand of the Father is behind all good things. - From Our Daily Bread -
THOUGHTS ABOUT SUNDAY:
Tomorrow is Sunday, a day that I, along with many other people observe as the Sabbath. In the Bible in the Book of Genesis, we read that God created everything in six days and rested from His work on the seventh day. Under the old Mosaic Law the Sabbath was observed on a Saturday. When Jesus of Nazareth was crucified, He arose from the dead on the third day, which was the first day of the week or Sunday. Since that time many Christians have observed Sunday as the Sabbath and some call it The Lord's Day. One of the ten commandments is: Remember the Sabbath Day by keeping it holy. (Exodus, Chapter 20, Verse 8, New International Version).
NOTES:
Today has been mostly sunny with a high temperature of 95 degrees. Kathy came to clean my house, then she helped Darren with taking care of the lawn. I had lunch by myself at Taco Bob's since Charley had a church meeting. He came in with some other people for lunch just as I was leaving. I went to the post office and then by Memory Gardens cemetery before I came home. I took a nap this afternoon with Smokey. At around 5:30 p.m. I went to Domino's Pizza to pick up a pizza for tonight and tomorrow. I put the treats outside for the cats at around 6:15 p.m. I watched the Lawrence Welk show taped in 1975 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. I missed doing the Good Things last night as my back was hurting a little and I just didn't feel up to doing them. That may be the trend from now on that I might miss a night now and then since I am getting older and more feeble as time goes by. Thanks for your emails and thanks for reading the Good Things.
The cats are fine. Rascal is on a desk near me at present. I have seen all of them this evening.
I hope everyone has a Wonderful Sunday. Everett.
