Power to Become the Sons of God

Oh, Pride, you are a mountain steep and tall
Which I have helped to heighten stone by stone,
Yet, when I try to conquer you, I fall
And grovel as a servant at your throne.
To circumvent your might, I go around,
The paths are overgrown with self-defeat,
While walking in your shadows, I have found
That scrupulosity is your conceit.
No more, old Pride, no more shall I boost up
Your boastful height nor circumvent your might,
No longer on my self-worth shall you sup,
There’s worthiness through God and love’s delight.
His strength will move your mountain from its base,
His Way will chart the path with love and grace.

About the Poet
Husband, father, grandfather, and each title is my joy. As a youth, poetry was a means to express the inexpressable. I was attracted to (and still am) the beauty and brevity of verse. All flows out from God, and like a proper prayer, can flow back.
