Autumn Change

                     Autumn Change

When trees are dappled bright with autumn hues
And cool wind drifts about among the trees,
My summer soul turns like the changing leaves
To bid worn days a seasonal adieu.
A cool mist flows above an ambling stream
Between two banks where autumn colors blend
As summer’s busy pace slows to an end,
I’m lulled into a restful autumn dream.
God’s artful stroke can paint a pleasant scene
Inviting season changes in my soul
Which walking with Him takes that changing stroll
To places where He makes a peaceful being.
And if I could but have more days like this,
Then I shall surely be by heaven kissed.

About the Poet
Husband, father, grandfather, and each title is my joy. As a youth, poetry was a means to express the inexpressable. I was attracted to (and still am) the beauty and brevity of verse. All flows out from God, and like a proper prayer, can flow back.
