Right Back At You

I wrote these words so you would know

I thank you all and love you so.

I'm honored to have friends like you -

you who read my poems too.

You often leave a comment, kind,

it blesses this forgetful mind.

I float with butterflies and birds

so humbled by your loving words.

---

When I read yours (and often twice)

I smile at lines of good advice -

and lines of beauty to behold -

of autumn's leaves of red and gold.

And then I comment - as I should -

so that you know I understood -

your words, your thoughts in my hard times -

and thank you for your loving rhymes.

Because I've known you many years

my eyes will sometimes well with tears -

in thoughts of rhyming memories

that any loving poet sees.

---

We greet new poets who stumble by -

and other ones, like me who try

to leave some wisdom, just like Que -

for we are fam'ly - stuck like glue.

Yes, friends will sometimes come and go,

but still a fam'ly - loving so...

For God so loved - and we do too -

so here's my poem right back at you...  :)

About the Poet
Born in Richland Center, Wisconsin in 1954. It's the poem's message that matters- not the poet.
