One More Thing

Making and baking
Basting and tasting
Boiling or broiling
Marinate or saute
Now you must turn it,
Be careful, don't burn it,
Flavor it now,
And put in some butter,
But salt, oh my, no -
Why don't we try
Oregeno?

Knead it or toss it,
Make sure it is frosted,
How long should it cook?
Let's look in our book.
Yes, in my kitchen
There's fun.
Now, is everything done?

Oh yes, one more thing,
After it all
Give someone a call,
Invite in your mother
Some friends,
Or an elderly brother.
For cooking's no fun
If, when you're done
There's no one to come.

Sit at my table
Feast on my bread
Taste the sweet love
With which it's prepared.
It's for you, and for you
That my table is spread
