Shadows

Shadows

As the sun arose in the eastern sky
I stood observing what was beside me
It moved as I moved to and fro
With my every motion, it would agree

Looking westward, each thing I did
Without wavering, it would duplicate
Whatever action that I chose
Every one  -  it would replicate

If it must be thus throughout the day
Perhaps I should proceed with care
This image that observes, all that I do
Will project my every deed and affair

I'm sure you know of what I speak
A "shadow", - follows us around
The sunlight reflects our every move
Wherever we go, it can be found

That shadow that stands tall in morn
Throughout the day, it is observed
Reflecting “works”, that we have done
Have they some useful purpose served

We are admonished, in God's Word
To work, while it is day
As evening comes and we look back
Is there some evil we helped defray

"Night cometh when no man can work"
I further read, in His Word
So has my "shadow", projected Him -
Some wayward path, has it deterred

No greater example comes to mind
As I survey events of the day
May our shadow always be used
To add flowers to, -  His bouquet

About the Poet
I live in N.C., and have been writing poetry for several years. Writing is the greatest "outlet" I have ever experienced to release my inner emotions, and express my stance on spiritual issues. Most compositions, are derived from observing "down-to-earth" events that occur around us. Many offer a personal "mini-story" with a metaphor of spiritual implications that portray God as the ultimate solution to life's problems. My goal is that any and all compositions will present Christ and His sacrifice at Calvary as the solution to problems encountered along our journey.
